Meeting Ali, Consultant and CSR champion in Bristol!

Ali, you have been with Marks Sattin for about 18 months, how did you originally hear about Marks Sattin and what made you want to join us? 

How would you describe your team and Marks Sattin’s business culture? 

Collaborating with an amazing team in Bristol led by Craig, I have learned so much in a brief period of time. With Ben Neeamuthkhan joining us in September 2023, it’s brought a completely different perspective and dynamic into the team. In regard to culture, it is probably the best organisation that I have worked within and have autonomy without unachievable targets or KPI’s.

You are a key member of our CSR committee, what has been your stand out achievement? 

Having been in the CSR committee for nearly a year, it has been great consulting with various parts of the business that you would not typically work with and sharing ideas. My biggest achievement was with the CSR Charity committee running my own volunteering day bringing together our colleagues from our London and Cheltenham offices. This was great for team building and also helping out a respectable organisation who are truly doing something great. Brought over the founder to our offices and bounced some idea’s off with him and he shared some amazing stories regarding sharing his blueprint with a similar organisation in America. 

HBH’s mission is to provide temporary accommodation and support services for people who are homeless while also working to address the root causes of homelessness in our community. Their approach to supporting homeless individuals is both practical and effective. Their flagship project, Help Bristol’s Homeless Village, features converted shipping containers that offer safe and secure accommodations for those who are sleeping rough. This unique approach has proven successful in meeting the needs of this vulnerable population.

What advice would you give recruitment consultants who are considering joining Marks Sattin (and hopefully our CSR committee too)

Just jump into one of the monthly catch ups to see if this is something for you if you have a clear passion whether that is relating to charity or the environment (as an example). Join for a meeting and see whether you have any additional points you want to raise – this may be of interest, or it may not but you have nothing to lose.
