Financial Control Manager - Leading UK Challenger Bank - 12 Month FTC

Hybrid Working Model: Once a month in London.



Key Responsibilities

  • Management Reporting
    • Assisting with the monthly financial reporting cycle, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
    • Contributing to the preparation of management information (MI) decks.
  • Financial Oversight
    • Supporting the timely completion of the bank's annual financial statements.
    • Managing statutory reporting obligations, including year-end financial statements and tax compliance.
    • Overseeing the daily reconciliation of customer deposits in line with regulatory standards, ensuring effective system integration and structured financial reporting.
    • Maintaining robust financial controls in line with the approved control framework and delegated authority guidelines.
    • Collaborating with internal and external auditors to strengthen control measures and address identified gaps.
    • Acting as a key contact for external auditors, ensuring audit queries are handled efficiently.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identifying opportunities to optimise reconciliation processes and improve efficiency within the financial control function.



Candidate Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a financial control role within the banking sector.
  • Immediately available or under a notice period of less than 1 month.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA).
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, IFRS, and financial instruments.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audit processes.
  • Competence in preparing consolidated statutory reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Familiarity with UK tax regulations in a banking environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
