The details
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager within the UK central team, the Financial Accountant helps ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of our external and statutory reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilites
Statutory accounts: UK and Group
- Preparation and delivery of statutory financial statements for all entities, including
- Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and for companies which utilise "Corporation Tax Creative Industry Tax Reliefs"
- Assistance with the delivery of consolidated global group accounts
- Assistance with the preparation and delivery of UK consolidated accounts
- Deliver all audited financial statements to statutory deadlines
- Be a key point of contact between the statutory audit team and Banijay finance teams to deliver and complete audit requests in a timely, accurate and complete manner
- Be a key point of contact between the Group Finance team (Paris) and the UK finance team to deliver Group audit requirements and deadlines Accounting policies/treatment
- Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of group financial accounting policies
- Review, interpretation, and application of accounting standards changes and/or accounting standards to be implemented in relation to new/one-off transactions across the UK group
- Input into commercial impact assessments on technical accounting change
- Be a key point of contact with UK finance teams with regards to technical and financial reporting queries
Tax and legal
- Preparation of financial information deliverable to the UK Tax team and tax advisors enabling the preparation of corporation tax returns
- Review of tax returns
- Provision of financial information for various other tax submissions/reports etc
- Liaising with the legal team over key deadlines as per Companies House
Other external returns
- Timely and accurate preparation and submission of returns to:
o PACT
o Broadcast
o ONS
o DBT (Payment Practice)
Other
- Support ad-hoc analysis and process improvement projects
- Support efforts to reorganise and rationalise legal entities within the UK group.
Knowledge & Skills
- Qualified accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA
- Strong technical accounting skills including UK GAAP (FRS 101 and FRS102) and IFRS
- Experience of accounts consolidation for a medium or large group including eliminations, adjustments, disclosures etc
- Working knowledge of UK tax principles
- Experience of working in a busy, large organisation environment
- Proven experience in managing delivery to statutory deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - able to work with all levels of staff across UK management, Group Finance and UK Finance teams
- Strong prioritisation and organisation skills
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently
- Have a mindset of constant process improvement and be confident to recommend and implement changes
