Marks Sattin are delighted to be working exclusively with Vale & West to find new tax professionals to join their business based in Reading. These roles are not fixed and it is envisaged that the new post holder will shape the role as they see fit. We're keen to talk to dynamic individuals who are keen to learn and eager to grow alongside the business. Furthermore, both of these opportunities have great progression paths to becoming a Partner at Vale & West. 

Tax Manager | up to £60,000

  • Vale & West are a progressive firm of Chartered Accountants based in Reading town centre. They are currently seeking an experienced private client tax manager, who is familiar with working in an accountancy practice. The role involves:

    • Managing a portfolio of self-assessment tax clients including personal tax clients, partnerships and trusts: preparing their annual tax returns, managing budgets and billing, and providing tax advice as required
    • Providing ad hoc advisory work relating to Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and Estate work
    • Preparation of Forms P11Ds
    • Client liaison and communication
    • Supervision and mentoring of junior tax staff
    • Meeting with potential new clients and assisting with client onboarding
    • Assisting the departmental manager with timetabling and workflow

    Candidates must have:

    • Prior accountancy practice experience
    • Good knowledge and proficient use of tax software
    • An ability to work without direct supervision
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Attention to detail with ability to work to deadlines in a busy office environment

    An excellent salary package is offered, depending on qualifications and experience. There is fantastic opportunity for progression for an ambitious candidate, as part of a small but growing tax team, undertaking a variety of work for a wide range of clients.

Tax Senior | up to £45,000

  • Vale & West are an open-minded firm of Chartered Accountants based in Reading town centre. They are currently seeking an experienced private client tax senior who is familiar with working in an accountancy practice. The role involves:

    • Managing a portfolio of self-assessment tax clients including personal tax clients, partnerships and trusts: preparing their annual tax returns, managing budgets and billing, and providing tax advice as required
    • Providing ad hoc advisory work relating to Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and Estate work
    • Preparation of Forms P11Ds
    • Assisting the departmental manager with timetabling and workflow
