This includes promoting visibility of the tax department across the business and being a go-to tax person. Your Responsibilities As Group Tax Manager
-
- Supporting M&A projects including due diligence, tax integration of targets and group tax reporting
- Developing and enhancing the processes to ensure maximisation of corporate tax reliefs, ensuring supportable claims to HMRC
- Driving education and training on tax throughout the operating divisions
- Supporting the process for agreeing claims/resolving queries, and maintaining a strong working relationship with HMRC
- Accountable for the implementation of appropriate tax governance and controls across the group to ensure low risk status and developing action plans for resolution of issues where necessary
- Acting as a point of contact for ad hoc taxation queries from the business in connection with corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes (incl IR35), and Stamp Taxes (SDLT, LBTT, LTT)
- Providing VAT and SDLT technical support in respect to complex land transactions
- Providing technical analysis and support in respect to new tax legislation impacting the business
- Working with stakeholders, including external advisers, the construction team, operational teams and finance to identify tax risks and opportunities and implement process improvements
- Proactively monitoring and assessing the impact of any legislative changes
- Leading and supporting ad hoc tax projects from time to time in support of improved governance (e.g. Alphatax use, MTD for Corporation Tax)
- Play an active role in the month end process, producing month end journals and reconciliations, establishing a clear audit trail
- Supporting the development of the tax strategy and implementation of governance structures across all taxes, including supporting compliance with the Senior Accounting Officer legislation and Criminal Finances Act 2017
- Supporting the half year and full year corporate tax and deferred tax provisioning in the accounts of the UK statutory entities and at a group level. Supporting and responding to queries from external auditors to ensure year end and half year statutory reporting timetables are met
- Providing corporation tax technical analysis in respect of items in the tax computations
- Championing changes to the norm and promoting a culture of continual improvement
- Support to mentoring of junior members of the tax team
About You and your Experience

- Qualified Tax Professional (ATT or CTA) ideally of +5 years PQE
- Accounting qualification desirable
- Good organisation, time management and work prioritisation skills
- Excellent technical ability
- Proactive, self-starter, able to drive projects forward unaided
- Willing and comfortable with meeting deadlines
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels both within and outside the organisation
- High level of personal integrity and professionalism
- Leads by example

Your Responsibilities As Group Tax Accountant

- Preparation of UK tax computations of group companies
- Providing corporation tax technical analysis in respect of items in the tax computations (incl expense deductibility, capital allowances and contaminated land reliefs)
- Support to adherence of the group’s tax strategy
- Monitoring, performing assurance work and supporting compliance with HMRCs Senior Accounting Officer legislation
- Monitoring, adding new processes and supporting compliance with Criminal Finances Act 2017
- Support to maintaining HMRC relationship, including attendance at HMRC meetings and preparation of technical submissions
- Keeping abreast of changes in legislation and accurately analysing impact on group
- Support to group tax administration
- General advice and assistance to stakeholders regarding VAT and SDLT/LBTT/LTT, including Options to Tax, VAT treatment of land transactions, VAT recovery in construction and all stamp duty reliefs
- Keeping abreast of changes in legislation and accurately analysing impact on group
- General advice, monitoring and complying with requirements of other indirect taxes, including import duties and CIS
- Support ad hoc projects from time to time in support of timely compliance
- Compilation and review of divisional PAYE Settlement Agreement returns
- Advice regarding IR35/Off Payroll working
- Provides tax technical training to stakeholders across the group to support accurate tax reporting and compliance
- Performing assurance activities

About You And Your Experience
