    • This is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CTA) who is looking to advance their career or undertake a fresh challenge. The Group Tax Manager opportunity would suit someone who is commercially aware that would enjoy working with a friendly, positive team of people committed to making a difference.

      Our ideal candidate will have first class inter-personal and communication skills, excellent IT proficiency, including MS Excel required, and a driven and proactive approach with a with to make the role their own. We're also keen to talk to ambitious people who want to drive improvements that help finance support the wider group to meet its ambitions through timely and accurate internal reporting.

      It is essential you have a practical understanding of tax compliance requirements of a UK listed entity, and can use your own judgment and initiative to anticipate and investigate queries where necessary.

      If successful in your application for this role, you will undertake a range of activities, including:

      • Responsible for all UK taxes across the Group, with particular emphasis on corporation tax and VAT compliance and planning, including the preparation and filing of applicable tax returns, to ensure Group compliance
      • Ensuring the Group's tax position is accurately reflected in the annual and interim financial statements, and responsibility for the year-end and interim tax reporting process, including the preparation of year-end Group tax consolidation and disclosures
      • Ensuring subsidiary entity tax positions are accurately reflected in the annual financial statements, including year-end disclosures
      • Work with external consultants to manage the Group's capital allowance, R&D tax and other claims, and develop systems to identify further claims in the future
      • Managing the Group’s VAT compliance requirements, including VAT returns preparation, capital good scheme operation, option to tax submissions and maintenance of the option to tax register
      • Review, propose and deliver process improvement initiatives to streamline tax activities and improve compliance processes, working collaboratively with the wider finance team
      • Review of SDLT returns following property transactions within the compulsory filing deadlines
      • Support the wider finance team, including the training of staff on tax-related matters
      • Monitoring external tax and accounting developments, assessing impact, and communicating these to Head of Finance and Reporting
      • Assisting with the management of tax audits, the Group’s relationship with HMRC and other tax authorities, and responses to any HMRC or local tax authority enquiries

    • This position is maternity cover for our Group Financial Accountant. As a rapidly growing business this newly created position offers scope to develop your skills in a very friendly and ambitious organisation. The successful candidate will undertake a varied role, including financial accounts, tax compliance and ad hoc projects. You will take an integral role within the finance team, managing two direct reports and reporting into the Head of Finance and Reporting, as well as working with the wider business.

      To be successfully considered for this role, you must be an ACA/ACCA qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge. It is also essential that you have experience of the application of IFRS, with a good understanding of the external reporting requirements of a UK listed entity. You also need to be a first class communicator with a high degree of IT literacy (particularly with Excel).

      Your responsibilities as Group Financial Accountant:

      • Team leader for the financial reporting team, with responsibility for two direct reports
      • Management of the Group's external reporting timetable, planning for year end and half year reporting, and project management of external reporting work-streams
      • Preparation and review of Group financial statements that form a significant part of the annual reports (annually)
      • Preparation and review of the Group financial statements within the Stock Exchange announcements (bi-annually)
      • Review of the statutory accounts for all subsidiaries and joint ventures under FRS101 and FRS102 respectively
      • Key contact and management of the annual audit and other projects as required, answering questions from external auditors and advisors
      • Ownership and review of audit schedules
      • Ensuring accurate representation of accounts data through completion of reconciliations, and maintenance of data quality
      • Review of balance sheet reconciliations, escalating risks and issues
      • Drive continuous improvement in ongoing processes; appropriately addressing issues and managing change efficiently
      • Preparation of Group VAT returns, including submission of options to tax and maintenance of the option to tax register
      • Review of joint venture VAT returns
      • Point of contact with external tax advisors for Corporation Tax compliance and returns for all Group companies
      • Point of contact with external tax advisors for capital allowance claims for all group companies
      • Preparation of technical accounting papers for internal review and for provision to the external auditors, and review of the accounting treatment for transactions
