Marks Sattin are working with a fast-growing Housing Association within the West Midlands to recruit a Director of Finance & Transformation. The organisation has grown exponentially and are currently growing through an exciting time of change which will spread their offering and services across a wider region of the UK.

The Director of Finance & Transformation will sit on the Executive Management Team and will report to the CEO providing financial and commercial insight into the organisation's operations. The Director of Finance & Transformation will drive optimum performance across the Finance, HR and IT functions and will also ensure best practices are maintained in line with company missions and values. The Director of Finance & Transformation will be a strategic leader and will assist the wider Executive Management Team in the delivery of key commercial and change & transformation activities. The individual will also have a strong focus on developing a positive and motivating employee culture across the organisation.

Responsibilities of the Director of Finance & Transformation include:

  • Reporting to the CEO, providing financial and commercial insight, and contributing to the delivery of the Corporate and Financial Business Plan
  • Providing strategic leadership across the Finance, HR and IT functions and ensuring internal controls and business operations are robust
  • Motivating a team of 8 direct reports - ensuring support and development at all times
  • Promoting a positive employee culture and continuing the organisations stance on championing its people
  • Carrying out regular reviews of all business processes and driving a continuous improvement culture
  • Managing key strategic risks and promoting a culture of continuous improvement to achieve the organisations mission and values
  • Contribute to corporate decision making as a key member of the Executive Management Team
  • Operating as 'Lead' on the Audit & Risk Committee, demonstrating diligence and insight
  • Development of long-range financial models, forecasts, detailed financial plans and annual budgets.
  • Implementing, developing and managing the internal and external audit functions
  • Partnering with the outsourced HR and IT providers to ensure needs are met according to Service Level Agreements
  • Partnering with external providers (where necessary) on change and transformation projects
  • Bench-marking against the market and utilising feedback from customers to maximise business efficiency and reputation
  • Ensuring the organisation maintains compliance within the regulatory framework


To be considered you will be:

  • A (CCAB) Qualified Accountant: ACA/ACCA/CIPFA
  • Experienced within a regulated industry in Not for Profit
  • Experienced leading teams in a Finance Director position within a similar industry
  • Experienced leading change & transformation programmes
  • Able to demonstrate gravitas in Board meetings and provide a value added approach to business critical needs
  • Able to adapt to the needs of a business and provide confidence and stability across the team
  • Keen to be a part of a fast-growing organisation
